We did the following - in this order:
1) Tar and feathers
2) Burn their shit.
3) Shoot them in the balls.
4) Dump their overtaxed beverages into the harbor.
5) Make them look bad in the literal press.
6) Slaughter them, like the tyrants that they were, until they left us alone.
Like everybody - they had their ups and downs, too. Indeed, they had a gruesome solution, albeit, effective. However, when you weigh the executions in the French Revolution with the casualties of the American Revolution, the argument for guillotine use has merit.
I think America is a destabilized empire about to topple. There is no guarantee that a Napoleon will rise but I can guarantee that the whole thing will come down unless you take weight off the top
I mean, the Boston harbor thing was more about tariffs (taxes imposed on imports into the colonies) than about the monarchy qua monarchy, but...that still leads to the same conclusion on Trump.
It was about a long history of the abuse of "Navigational law" and "Mercantilism," whereby England levied unreasonable taxation on the colonies, in order to fund their deficit, after the French and Indian War. That Revolution? It was 1000% about the tariffs cutting into the merchants' profits. Yuuup
