Also prefer it but currently actually using SPD SL pedals with normal shoes. Shoes are always problematic for me: EU47.5, wide feet, orthopedic inlet soles, no air or gel allowed in soles, also no studs and such. I am actually quickly satisfied as long as they fit properly, and durability is nice
