I think it’s a serious, important job, one that should be lead by a person of talent, experience, patriotism and integrity. This is a very rose-colored view of the US military, which has mostly advanced the interest of US and multinational corporations, enforced Western values, and overthrew democratically elected regimes the world over. Hegseth is a disgrace but every previous SoD is implicated in horrific crimes.

Some veterans of my generation see their time in the military as wasted. “THIS isn’t the country I defended.” It is not. But I’ll not walk away and leave it at the “mercy” of Trumpism. I am not the stuff of martyrs but I will fight. It’s all I know how to do.

America right now is enmeshed in disinformation as bad as what infected the former Soviet Union. One party is devoted to lying to the public and their lies are amplified by a news media ecosystem that earns billions broadcasting those lies.
