I know the right-wing propaganda machine is powerful, and that many Trump supporters have a cult-like devotion, but not all do, and going from “your life will be so much better right away” to “your life will be worse for a while” is a noticeable, less appealing change.

So now Fox Business is preparing their viewers for "a bit of temporary pain" amid Trump-Musk's DOGE cuts, saying that "people forget that when [Ronald Reagan] came into office in 1981, he slashed federal head count and put the economy back into the double dip recession of 1980 and 1981."

Reagan inherited an economy with serious problems, including higher inflation than under Biden, and the Fed, not the White House, was the main actor addressing it. Trump inherited a good economy he was lying about then made things worse in avoidable ways.
I was all geared up to fact-check MAGAts praising the 'miraculous economic recovery' Trump accomplished in a mere week.
In retrospect, pointing out that the US economy is flourishing isn't a great idea when your planned course of action is going to you intend to destroy it.
Also several tax increases.
Whether his rug pulling his fans will strengthen the Argentinian economy is another topic, but he could easily justify making cuts.
