Here’s the counter argument. 1.) putting forth a legislative process whereby you know you’ll lose makes you look weak, not strong. 2.) there’s plenty of ways to fight back that DO make you look strong. 3.) fighting every battle is the same as fighting no battle. Dems need a distilled message.

The despair is so palpable, it is terrifying--in and of itself. Anyone who has studied psych knows of the "Learned Helplessness" studies in which dogs who received repeated shocks eventually made NO attempt to avoid the shocks. (The experiment was *monstrous, but the lesson is there for all of us.)
