So sorry to hear this. Reminds me of seeing the devastation near Sevenoaks in Kent after the 1987 gale. Very distressing.

Reminds me of the Great Storm of 1987. My local ancient woodland was ripped to shreds, a mighty yew that had looked over the village church, pond and green for untold years was split in two. Four decades later, the evidence of that day is slim, but it’s still there if you look hard enough.

So very sorry 😞 after Arwen the BBC reporter coming to interview me via helicopter from Carlisle showed me the footage of all the downed trees in the Lake District National Park. There were thousands 😓 each one, like yours, was a tragic irreplaceable loss 💔

It's an awful feeling. With so many hurricanes in our area over the past 3 years, we've lost thousands of mature trees. A friend and nature photographer gently reminded me it's part of our Earth's regeneration cycle no matter how harsh it seems... while we mourned their loss.
