I just started it but I'm hooked on The Instrumentalist by Harriet Constable. Historical fiction about an orphan girl prodigy violinist taught by Vivaldi.

Also I love the Ruth Galloway books by Elly Griffiths. They're smart but light-ish fast-read mysteries, and Ruth is a great character. Perfect for when I need something escapist, like in between heavier reads.

I just finished Here One Moment by Liane Moriarty and had a hard time putting it down. Also really liked Oona Out of Order by Margarita Montimore.

Dragonfly in Amber (the Outlander series) by Diana Gabaldon.

My mother reads the books, but I admit I have not read them.

Probably wise. I've started watching the show. I'm now just starting the second season and it's gone beyond the book. It's even more terrifying. I had to take a break for a couple days. With everything going on in the real world last week, I kept visualizing crossing into Canada, if necessary.

Oh no, I haven’t heard. I will definitely look at it. The book that has me so frustrated right now was one of the best books last year. But it’s written by a man and there are very few exceptions where I enjoy books written by men.

'They Never Learn' and 'Temper', both by Layne Fargo

I'm not sure about the genre as it's been a while since I read them, but from what I remember I want to say they're thrillers/mystery. Mostly I remember really really loving them.
