2/ Public ownership can mean municipal or regional control, co-operatives, or community-led models. 90% of the world’s water is public, and there’s many different systems working for different places.

3/ We don’t need a one-size-fits-all approach.
What we do need is local accountability. Water is an essential service, and decisions about it should be made with local needs in mind—not dictated from above.

Local decisions will do nothing to produce any form of water national grid, which is what we need
Nor will it provide the money for new reservoirs, or treatment plants
Who will sit on these local boards?

4/ What we don’t need is more privatisation. It has failed. Water should be managed for public good, not private profit.
We need more democracy, more transparency, and to make environmental health and climate resilience a priority—not corporate dividends.

do they agree when you point out that whoever owns the water companies bills are going to have to go up significantly if they want a cleaner supply with fewer leaks and less effluent in streams and rivers?

4 easy fixes:
You change the law so that companies can only pay dividends out of post tax profits
You tighten the regulations to ensure leaks are fixed and effluent dumping is reduced
You only allow CEO'S to be paid 30 times the lowest paid worker
You cap executives bonuses to 10%
Job done!

I am currently represented by local councillors, a mayor, and an MP
Are none of these any good to represent my interests when it comes to water?
If not, why do we have them?
