Great question! I think it was the Greeks. In Hesiod’s cosmogony, Chaos is the first god, but there’s no water involved. So it’s already a bit different. Centuries later, we have Plato talking about God as the cause of everything, eternal & preceding everything else in existence./

Platonism & neoplatonism were very influential on early Christianity & Judaism. Like you said, the Mesopotamian & Canaanite creation myths are from watery chaos, possibly with a promordial giant involved.

I didn’t have much choice left but to do something new; I was dangerously depressed. I was also very, very lucky & privileged to have enough money to cushion a switch to grad school. I’m happy with my choice, but it’s not easy to start over, so think about it carefully. I hope you find your path 💜

We are middle eastern / African Jews on one side/ eastern Europe on the other ..they are very interested in our culture but are challenged with working memory so it's hard...my mum from India was the first female Cantor in California

I’d love to discuss the mythology of the Old Testament. That’s something I’ve always been fascinated by reading children’s books at the synagogue library and being told stories by the rabbi or cantor in Sunday school
