Seems like almost every model has had the SUV or Crossover treatment these days making them taller and fatter. Where have all the ‘normal’ cars that (adult) pedestrians can see over gone??
Visited southern Utah recently and watching monster truck after monster truck barely be able to turn out of the drive-through was really striking. I know they don’t care about pedestrian deaths or emissions but will anyone ever stop making these simply because they do not fit on roadways?

The problem is fewer consumers want to. Drivers view the roads as an arms race where you need to upgrade to the biggest vehicle possible to feel “safe”.
Part of this is consumer demand, part of it is Detroit’s marketing strategy.
I'm praying for the UK this evening that it doesn't feel the scourge of the bad-driving anti-pedestrian gigantic trucks which are driven worse than teslas. 🙏
Looking at cumulative data to October 2024, the Toyota Corolla 2024, with 901,991 sales (-1.9%).
The Tesla Model Y fell one spot and ranked 2nd, with 865,868 new sales (-6.5%).
Third place the Toyota RAV4 -up 1 spot-836,258 sales (+13.7%), the Ford F-Series -down 1 spot- with 733,754 sales (-1.3%).
