The most important job for the media over the next two to four years is to attribute all the horrible things happening in the world to Trump’s actions, much like they should connect extreme events to climate change and our abuse of fossil fuels.

If the political game is now “friends and enemies” (thanks, @kjephd.bsky.social), then all the messaging should be how T is not your friend, he is your enemy. Note: not he is “my” enemy, but he is *yours*
We shoul bring so called “legacy” media from the legacy centralized social media, without fact checking, to Bluesky and offer them credible sources and info.
It seems our media is more concerned with ass kissing. No one NO ONE should be using Trumps ridiculous name change of the Gulf of Mexico. Just because he wants to doesn't mean we have to obey. He can't just go around renaming the world because he feels like it.
2/3 You know they have marked cards (they lie) but you can't interrupt the game (reality). That gives the other person an advantage. We are suffering that situation.
3/3 I don't advocate lying, I point out that lying is cheating, and cheating gives a short-term advantage (in the long run, it ruins you, but "in the long run, we are all dead" (Keynes).
"A lie repeated a thousand times becomes the truth" (Goebbels)
Indeed, 'a lie can get halfway around the world while the truth is still putting on its boots'. I agree with everything you say here, but still concerned your original OP exaggerates the power and malignity of Trump.
1/3 I agree with you. I think his message is ironic.
I would also like to make a reflection. I believe there is an unequal competition. If you play fair (tell the truth) when you know the other party is playing dirty (knowingly lying), it's like playing against someone who has marked cards.
The establishment media won’t do it. But cross border research collaboration, INGO/NGOs, global journalists, artists, anyone who can collaborate across borders can jointly document the damage done by authoritarianism. These people crave respect - make sure we only give them accountability

A new system of public journalism that has been vetted on facts not opinions must be created.. asap
Corporate media dropped “he’s old” the instant Biden dropped out. They have also been sanewashing Trump since day 1.
You’re expecting a lot from a media that’s in it for clicks, profits and ratings.
Scolding a racist for being a racist doesn’t help if the racist is happy being a racist.
