If I don’t feel welcomed, I don’t want to put down roots. I need to be in a place that can give me assurances to invest in a home and a future life there. Alabama has never been that place for me, despite me wanting it to be.

I've driven all over the South in the years I've lived here. It's a beautiful country filled with people who will be as polite as possible while they damn you to hell.
I put down roots that I hate to give up, but my they always say "if you don't like it then leave"

I can trace my family a couple of generations back. My ancestors were dirt-poor Alabama farmers who sharecropped until the 1940s, so I’ve been conditioned from the start to establish a foundation and keep the family line going — the importance of leaving a legacy.

Fuck legacy. I want stability.

I’m not opposed to just buying a camper, turning it into a proper home, and leaving for the North in a moment’s notice. If I stay in the States, it’ll be a northern blue state: no question about that.

I’m also intermittent fasting more often now (been doing this for years, weight-loss goal related) so my grocery expenses are lower.

My priorities have shifted to: Paying off debt as fast as possible, sort through and organize my clutter that doesn’t get donated or sold, and be around gay people as much as possible to feel a sense of grounding and normalcy.
