The T4 program killing centres at psychiatric hospitals laid the foundations and developed ideas, mechanics and procedures that would be used against other groups, especially Jews, travellers and homosexuals....

Equipment, materials and many of the same staff were transferred from the T4 program to the concentration camps to oversee the mass murders. The killing of disabled people continued for a year after the Nazis had lost the war, while the country was under Allied occupation...

Disabled people were seen as less than human and therefore without souls, so none received Christian burials and had their ashes scattered on sports fields. All the people who participated in the killing were there by choice and faced no reprisal for leaving or refusing to be involved in murders...
