I’m so glad it’s getting some coverage!! It’s hard to focus on any one problem when the world is on fire, but also, now is an especially tragic time to lose a public program that serves both conservation and community, and makes meaningful connections with tens of thousands of people annually.

I hope the feedback does something. I’m writing an email tonight. The heart of the aquarium is the people doing the work, especially in ways that more broadly engage and include the community and honor the local environment and it’s terrible to see that being cut.

This is beyond insane.
And while it may not be directly targeted, eliminating any program that educates the public about the impact of industry on the environment, only benefits Republican donors.

The staff of the environmental education center at Bay View may get furloughed.
