Very good piece and hopefully influential. I don't know if this counts as twee or if it's an adjacent form of passive aggression, but I once saw a digital sign on the M6 which read, "Pick up your litter, other people do."

I was talking about this with @cbuckthorn.bsky.social earlier. It was truly new and refreshing when Innocent first did it. Now it’s tired and copycat, and even innocent themselves have stopped being good at it

As a music writer in the 80s I saw the rise of twee in indie: then it was a way of avoiding sexualisation but it soon spiralled into hell and horror. Your piece is great.

Seriously? I think it’s fucking rotten. Divisive snobbery of the worst sort. In fact the anti-twee are more perfomatively mannered than the twee.
