I think if I’d had OutRun and not World Grand Prix, my opinion of driving games at that time might have been very different…

My dad was a Formula 1 fan so I tended to receive F1 games on every console I owned... which is fine if you like F1 but I really wasn't into it! I do like sports cars and rally, though - so OutRun would have suited me a lot better.

I've played Outrun many times for the Master System, and yet, it was not my first ever experience of the game.

I first encountered Outrun as one of those sit-in arcade cabinets that hydraulically moved the machine with the camber of the road.

My cousins, who also had a Master System, then... 1/2

...showed me the Master System version. There was something about the way the Master System played Magical Sound Shower that made me fall in love with it.

A few months later, I got my own copy of Outrun for the Master System.
