I wonder if it's worth including some optional styles. Media outlets love to embed tweets, and with Bluesky blowing up, this seems like the obvious way to embed skeets. Including some basic styles might help them pick it up more readily, especially for smaller, independent outlets.
I love this! I had an idea for this a while back: is there any way for Bluesky posts to be able to see embeds to themselves and show backreferences to the articles/pages that do? that could open up all kinds of cool use cases!
inside it with the post text in so the text is not lost when offline or the API is down. @benward.social making that decision for the Twitter embed was a far-sighted decision that helped the web a lot.

I like that, but I’m using the anchor link url itself to construct the API request, also linking the original post is a pretty solid fallback. You can make custom templates if you want that fallback 👍🏻
Preserving deleted posts that you quote is another useful case (as my webpage above shows even more then before as both twitter and Ben have deleted the tweets I was quoting as examples)
