The story describes how being a part of a poor or small media ecosystem - i.e. reporting in Czech, Slovak, Ukrainian, Dutch, Italian (...), or, heaven forbid, being a photojournalist and/or freelancer - shapes conflict reporting practices.

In a nutshell, this job is worse *and* better than that of rich media and globally famous English-language reporters.🤯 The story contains examples of touching journalistic solidarity, witty and creative solutions, and surprisingly high war insurance prices.

(Obviously, it's full of emotions, although emotions are not the focus this time.) The paper is based on my recently finished MSCA IF research with journalists, photojournalists, documentary filmmakers, fixers and local producers covering Ukraine, Palestine and Israel (2021-2023).
