Hello #healthcare people. I have a personal ekg machine that I use every day before taking meds. I forgot that it classifies #bradycardia as 40-50 bpm. I have always heard under 60 bpm is brady. Bradycardia between 50 and 60 is fine, as long as you have no dizziness, shortness of breath, low blood pressure or chest pain. A heart rate below 50 is not okay. So yeah, a heart rate in the 50s is abnormal and possibly too low. Below 50 is TOO low.

Thanks Melissa, not what I was trying to ask. My HR was in the mid 50s today and a few times before with this EKG. It says that it is NSR, and all my education disagrees. I am wondering if anyone has heard of brady being defined as <50 vs the <60 I have known for decades.

I want on a whole spiral about this last year after doing my ACLS.

AHA teaches that symptomatic Bradycardia is most common with a rate less than 50. No one could give me a good answer as to why.

Right!? I recall being pulled into separate rooms for more thorough health evaluations before donating blood and plasma because my HR was less than 60.
Side question at what point is it below brady?

I imagine a regular person would be having symptoms under 40.
When something becomes symptomatic it usually gets called something else.

I read a little about it back then and recall that too, reading about things now it says "if you are having x symptoms talk to your doctor to see about treatment options."
