When beloved (and that is a commonly held feeling) players get just sold away by management against their will, fans usually get *very* upset with the club management as well (not only in football, e..g Doncic trade comes to mind).

For many fans their club is as important as their personal relationships, so the analogy is pretty sound.

TAA has put is personal interests above the club, which is legitimate, but he no longer gets to enjoy the supporters affection or respect as he did.

Break-ups often hurt both sides.
