We need the CBC, but it is doing us no favours with content they have been promoting including last weeks Cross Country Checkup, and the constant flow of RW lobbyists given platform to lie without challenge.

When was this "CBC of old"? Been listening/watching for 50+ years and they always had pundits on (e.g., National/Journal). Sometimes made me want to throw stuff at the radio/TV so this is not new.

The news was more than 5 minutes (especially the radio updates at noon and after 5). The Journal was the opinion side & they didn't just let people talk, they challenged when outrageous statements were made. That is not a common anymore on the TV side. As it happens still has some relevance.

I'm not sure if you also watch/listen to BBC/NPR news - but the difference in style is very noticable and sounds much more like the CBC of 20 years ago.
