Because it validates the lying fantasy that Vance is a salt of the earth Appalachian instead of a child of privilege who despises the poor.

I hear what you’re saying. At the same time, it’s pithy and illustrates that he doesn’t represent the values of everyone from the region even if he does claim it for political expediency.
