it is very easy to forget just how young xc3's cast is and the implications get worse and worse as the game goes on. nobody should be forced to deal with the things the average teenager in aionios has to go through

This is actually why I highly dislike when people say Xenoblade 3 doesn’t have as much character/meta-narrative depth as its predecessors; I think a lot of people forget that N and M are essentially perpetual teenage slaves forced into a position they (developmentally) cannot extensively comprehend.
I don’t think this is inherently “less depth” but more so a different approach to narrating their relevance to the overarching narrative. Very easy to forget, but a very powerful example of 3’s storytelling strengths. Not wholly related to what you initially posted but I did want to add on slightly.
