The Democrats are worse than the corporate fascists of the Estado Novo in Portugal, and have identical politics. The Democrats aren't *Nazis*, but few fascists were Nazis. The Democrats and the Republicans are two *different* fascist parties, but they are both fascist, and both support genocide.

then it isn't a definition of fascism that is useful or relevant.

And the Democrats and Republicans fit both. If you really in depth study the fascist movements of Italy, Germany, Portugal, Spain, and Argentina, and you look at what we did with Nazi soldiers and officials after WW2, and you understand the full context, the US has been protofascist since WW2.

Fascism is the political ideology of Mussolini and existed as a method to smash attempts at Communist uprisings, and was adopted by other nations for that purpose. What Trump is pushing is reactionary but there’s no major communist movement that he’s attempting to destroy.

Fascism is designed in a way that always prioritises stomping out attempted resistance, what Trump/Heritage want is more a reactionary and authoritarian state that promotes some form of Christian Nationalism. His priority is social regression not stomping out revolutionary movements.

France had an election in two rounds in June and July this year, and the far-right party was the front runner in the first round. There was a lot of effort and strategic drop-outs in other parties (against urging from party leadership) to keep them out of a majority.
