in my experience it actually doesn’t matter what you name your kid because inevitably you will just end up calling them a deranged nickname like Boopis

yeah my teen jokingly called the 3mo old "gaby birl" instead of "baby girl" and now I call her that all the time 😆 "oh gaby birl, gaby birl..."

We (well, mostly me) called my baby sister “urgill boipus” for a little bit, and then Duds for about two years, before the family settled on Liz, and even now four decades later I’m more likely than not to call her Lizardo.

There was 5 years between my brother and her, so I would chant “urgill boipus, made on poipos” - I guess boipus arose because I needed a rhyme for how bugs bunny said purpose.

Somehow we all managed to be fairly normal adults.

Also, it doesn't matter for awhile, as far as I can tell.
Kiddo is 18mo and can name his friends names but literally gives you a blank look if you ask him his name. (and doesn't come when it's called)

After 6 weeks away, my partner noted that I now refer to our toddler as "Weeble." It's true but I also don't recall this happening, probably because I was solo-parenting a toddler for 6 weeks straight.
