Recently, I have been increasingly interested in how ‘work’ is accomplished and which aspects of the ‘work’ of life can heighten productivity in the short term and make it sustainable for the longer term 👇🏻
I was inspired by @erikbryn.bsky.social's characterization of how communities might “go faster and farther” and reflected on what extending the notion of a ‘Rolling Swarm’ might look like in human endeavors, with implications for professional and personal life 👇🏻
A forum in which I've witnessed a ‘Rolling Swarm’ is during the annual #HCWvsHunger campaign
Healthcare Workers vs Hunger was formed by @shematologist.bsky.social & @tmprowell.bsky.social to alleviate food insecurity and combat hunger during COVID-19 pandemic 👇🏻
2020-2024 campaigns have raised > **$2.8 Million** (!!) for food banks/charities
In late Nov-early Dec, medical professionals + allies push each other thru friendly competition on social media outlets and beyond to raise funds to combat hunger 👇🏻
Serving as a co-lead for #pathology, I can attest to the sheer power of this collective action and the resulting crescendo of good will and impact it engenders
...and people keep joining the effort each year! 👇🏻
Experiencing a 'window' in which a large, de-centralized group focuses intently for a fundamental good is exhilarating & highlights the profound value of ‘Swarming’ together!!
