Myself and many others have been given advice and offers to make it possible

Quite a few are already exploring options on how to leave the country and it is going to be an impact felt for decades.

Some friends have a daughter interested in marine biology. She is considering studying overseas in a country that believes in science and climate change. Their son might do the same for graduate school if he pursues medical research.

I pray we will bounce back in a few years, but I don't take that hope for granted

there are some amazing opportunities to learn through international scientific collaborations

but the reality is that science may become an expat discipline for Americans....

Quick note: the Dutch government tried to set up a fund for USA scientists, but is met with criticism from native scientists since it’ll take from the pre-existing funding rather than receiving extra funding specifically for that goal.
