Intel x86 sales were not growing before covid, & spiked when people started to WFH. I wonder if the finance directors thought chip sales would keep growing after the pandemic subsided. They're surprised by declining sales & losses? It wasn't a secret that SOTA fabs cost $10B, what did they expect?
It’s a shame, he was the right person for the job. I believe the best path forward is to break Intel into design and manufacturing, and merge each with strong partners. I like $MRVL for the design side of the house, and don’t see any fit but $GF for manufacturing.

13th/14th gen misstep. Arrow lake is worse than 14th gen due to bugs. Alchemist late, Battlemage late.
And I'm guessing the 18A process is bad.
Their 11-person board has 3 directors with experience in semiconductor mfg, & most of the rest have finance backgrounds.
