I had a conversation with my mom, whose parents were Black Panthers. She said she was raised to fight but is exhausted, and now wants to leave the country.

The elders know the cost. And it's expensive as hell. People are attached to their personal comforts, so we all lose.

I don't blame her. I keep asking my husband what will be the signal to bounce and he said once they bring back being able to arrest folks for debt to fill these prisons up.

I don't see that happening. The rich carry more debt than the rest of us.

To be fair to the natives they were already free. They were fighting against an invasion and trying to negotiate with people who had no intent on keeping their promises.
