I had a cortina at one point in my life ... admittedly it wasn't a Mk1 like that one ... it was a Mk3 ... my first car was a Mk2 2.0L Capri, which was basically a hatch-back Cortina with 2 doors pretending to be lame attempt at a sports car.

I had one, around 1960, in NZ. Changed the gearbox for a floor shift model. It was a good car
