I love this movie and its vibe, but I remember my pedantic friend being miffed that they changed the plot at the beginning to having everyone die in an earthquake and not scarlet fever and therefore they couldn’t continue to watch it. 😅

Oh how wonderful to be a father watching this for the first time with his daughter (how old?). I saw it when it first came out (I even still have my VHS) so I must have been six or seven years old...I've seen it hundreds of times and it has never lost its power.

My oldest will be 6 in June, I might sit on the movie for a year or so, just to make sure she can properly enjoy it. She's into Tintin for now :)

That may be a good idea, though tbh I think children that young will still enjoy it for the visuals and the music. And yes! I was telling my partner about The Secret Garden and he thought he'd seen it, but actually he was thinking of The Little Princess (which was written by the same woman)
