the sawmill level alone occupies a lot of my mental storage space. i still cannot believe how poorly received this game was on launch, it's a genuine gem
i mean yea but thats like saying toast with no butter is better with butter. the game just feels so lacking and feels less like a sequel and more of a epilogue dlc
I love this game. And yet, a bunch of my friends don't care for it.
One part I understand is not liking the controls/physics. Compared to SNES DKC, Retro's DK is a lot more... stiff? You have to commit to rolls. (plus you can't roll unless you're moving) But I dunno, I just adjust to it.
that's part of what I like most about it, you don't get a lot of these style of platformers that emphasize a heavy character through the feel of the controls. he's still highly mobile, but it nicely conveys the mass and inertia of driving a 500lb gorilla around
I only prefer DKC 2 out of personal preference purely for its vibes and I am more of a Classic DKC player, but from I played, Tropical Freeze is VERY good.
Whether I prefer it, 2, or 3 is basically a toss-up. In many aspects it's the runaway favorite, but I wish it offered more animal buddy and bonus room variety.
the part that drove me mad was how the Snowmads theme sounds just like the rhythmic part of the Crocodile Isle theme, like it's building up but lacks a big melodic drop, I fully believe it was meant to transition smoothly at what would've been the real villain reveal
its weird because getting k.rool to trick other villains into picking fights with DK would be something funny to see and then you can have both things but it feels like nintendo hates k.rool

For me it's Either this one or DKC2 depending on preference in atmosphere
And for me it's DKC2
Because I argue that this is.
