Phantasy Star Online is a must play for the GC. It was the original reason I bought mine. The single player story is good. Even though the official servers are long dead there is still a large fan base and people are still running multiplayer servers for the game.

Star Wars: Rogue Squadron II - Rogue Leader pretty much fits that description. The mission-based gameplay is excellent. Don’t have to be a Star Wars fan to enjoy it (but it helps a lot).

Also, Wave Race: Blue Storm is well worth picking up. The loading screens are an interactive water physics demo.

I spent most of my pandemic relief building up my various collections, and the biggest hits were probably Twin Snakes and Twilight Princess at close to $100 each.

Nearly feel out of my chair when I looked up how much my copies of Path of Radiance and Pokémon XD were going for.

Yes haha! Similar for me, GC is one of my smallest collections but possibly the most expensive. A lot of the 'hidden gems' are like 40 or 50 to start with. Still, it's a great console and worth it I think.

It’s still my favorite system (Switch is possibly edging it out), but yeah the games quality and price aged like fine wine.

I’ve got a handful of titles remaining on the wishlist (Pokémon Colosseum, Resident Evil 0&1, Kirby, F-Zero), but honestly an Action Replay and SD2SP2 should be the path

I'd also recommend installing a flippy drive (not a typo). It's an optical drive emulator for the GameCube that lets you load games from an SD card but also leaves the real optical drive functional. Perfect for the expensive games you don't want to pay an arm and a leg for.

Not a game suggestion, but try to get a DOL-001 if you can. Unlike the DOL-101 revision it has a digital AV output.

Originally used for the component output cable (which is now unobtanium)-there are inexpensive third-party HDMI adapters for it that work much nicer than adapting the composite signal

I'm sure CRTs are in no short supply in your home, but never know what they might want in the future. I believe there's also third-party component adapters based on the same tech.

Be wary of any adapters claiming SNES/N64 compatibility though, those use are just converting the composite signal.

Also I'd be wary of the Wavebird controllers. (The first-party wireless controllers Nintendo made.) Maybe I'm just unlucky, but none of my three work consistently anymore. I think they struggle in the presence of modern wireless devices.

Obviously depends on age but I recommend Luigi's Mansion, F Zero GX and massively Resident Evil remake (still best in the series for me). Obviously Wind Waker is great. Crazy Taxi is decent imo though there's not much to it. Mario Smash Football, Wave Race.
