Background: In an alternate timeline, Konishi Yukinaga escaped execution after the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600 CE and took refuge with the Catholic Church. In 1615, Shogunate agent Yasuke tracks him to the Vatican City, where he’s under Pope Paul V’s protection. Tokugawa Ieyasu wants him dead. 2/21

Tokugawa sends an embassy to Mexico, Spain, France, & Italy, ostensibly to establish trade relations, secretly ordered to murder or capture Lord Konishi. Leading the embassy is Hasekura Tsunenaga, disgraced Date Clan courtier and 1st of 4 PCs. He commands Guamare guerrillas he met in New Spain. 3/21

PC #2: Yasuke, the famous African samurai. An old man who’s now spent the past 15 years hunting Lord Konishi. If Yasuke delivers him to the Shōgun, he can return to Japan in glory and live the rest of his life as a respected nobleman. Commands the former Oda Clan musketeers. 4/21

PC #3: Julia Ota, Korean lady-in-waiting, Lord Konishi’s ex-servant, whom he converted to Catholicism. She faces exile for religious agitation unless she captures Lord Konishi. Has one follower, a creepy Japanese lady named Octavia whom she converted, & who keeps randomly appearing/vanishing. 5/21

PC #4: Miyamoto Musashi, legendary duelist, 3 years after his battle with Ganryū. Heard Italians like to fight with swords, tagged along. No one played Hattori Masahirō, Iga ninja monk and Hattori Hanzō’s 3rd son; but he and his Iga Rangers joined the party helpful NPC allies. 6/21

The PCs arrive in Rome and split up. Lady Julia scouts the Apostolic Palace and finds Lord Konishi hiding in the Borgia Apartments. Everyone else installs themselves at Yasuke’s safehouse. They deploy the Iga Rangers for reconnaissance, but fail when a bar brawl engulfs them. 7/21
