I'm thrilled that Dollar Tree is on this list. There are so many places in this country with limited shopping options, and Dollar Tree is often the only nearby store in underserved communities.

Thanks for sharing this for folks to learn more about the problems with these types of stores. Sadly, they are the only option for a lot of folks, and if those stores ditched DEI it could be so much worse. Everything sucks so bad this week I'll take the little win now and fight for more later.

I’ve been critical of Kroger since they started their pricing slight-of-hand (forcing bulk buying) and flat-out deceptive signage but using FACIAL REC to spike pricing is beyond evil. Fuck these guys sideways. What a bunch of slimy profiteering scumbags. 🤬

the article doesn't say that's happening, it says a cyberpunk dystopian novelist thought that would be possible with electronic price signs and facial rec, which may be in use. The takeaway i have from the article is that companies need to get more comfortable with raising wages and hiring people.
