I don’t want any animal photos or videos for a while. They won’t help. I need time to heal. I may not talk much for a while. I’m not doing well. I promised him on the ride there that if he was ready, I understood.

He was told he was loved. That he’s the best dog ever. That he’s an absolute legend and the most beautiful dog. That he’s tried and I understood this wasn’t going to get better, that I understood he had to give up at this point.

It hurts. But I’d rather have made the choice and been with him than not been there or have had it happen on its own at home where he would have had less of an easy experience drifting off to sleep.
