It's hard to go back to any other display after using a Retina 5K monitor. I tend to buy my Apple hardware refurbished which helps cut down on cost.

I use VMware Fusion when I'm doing anything that involves Linux. I can't justify running a VM in the cloud for development work when my laptop is this powerful.

I use Docker Desktop, and I'm in the process of evaluating Flox as a Homebrew replacement for managing local dev environments. I'm also kicking the tires on Ghostty as my default terminal emulator.

This if the first time I’m hearing about Flox. Looks interesting. Love how easy and intuitive it is to use and configure. I think the layering is compelling: that it’s not isolated to something to use for isolated dev envs but something you can use for general terminal use too. One tool for both.

When it comes to writing code, which I'm doing much less of these days, then the Micro Editor is becoming my terminal editor of choice, and for some reason I keep coming back to GoLand from JetBrains when writing Go code, it's just too good.

I use the keyboard on my laptop with an external Apple trackpad on the side. I like to keep my laptop open to take advantage of two screens.

I know you weren’t asking me, but I’ve been a big fan of the Logitech Keys, and now Keys Mechanical, along with the Mx
Master 3 mouse. I prefer a good mouse over a trackpad, and the keyboard feels much better to me than the multiple apple externals I own.

I recently went all Linux again, after spending a couple of years on macOS.

Now rocking a Framework (Ryzen 7 + 64GB RAM) and a custom built desktop (Ryzen 9 + 128GB RAM).

OS is NixOS.

It was bumpy going back to Linux Desktop, but found my stride again and don't think I'll be going back to 🍏
