Why's it on my list of non-creepy things that creeped me out? Because when I was a kid I didn't know it was a metaphor for actual moonlight. I thought it was about *a sinister, bizarre, midnight figure literally called Mr Moonlight.*

It becomes INCREDIBLY sinister if you think Mr Moonlight is a pale grinning figure who, "...came to me one summer night/
And from your beam, you made my dream." Pennywise the clown in song form. "Every night you don't come my way/
I pray and pray more each day."
And the main line that spun me up was "and from this world/you sent my girl." In the actual context it's just talking about the world sending the girl to the singer. But I though it was Mr Moonlight SENDING the girl OUT of the world. Like, where the fuck did he teleport her to.
Anyway, I used to find the song oddly compulsive because of all of this, clearly not a great song but also just weird and creepy from my perspective. Imagine the sheer, deflating disappointment when I found out what the song was actually about.
