Chasing payments for courses for AuDHD 17yo Daughter, that cost less than £1k, ignored until I emailed the local councillor for “life long learning”, (again), suddenly they bother to answer, Surrey CC saying they’ve caught up with 75% of EHCPs isn’t a win if they don’t deliver what’s in section F 😬

My view is when things are a statutory duty, they should be funded by central government, not council tax. Things like taxis to school for children with SENs are vital, but are bankrupting councils. Some are deliberately reducing quality of SEND provision in the hope parents will move elsewhere.

Teaching assistants do invaluable work but I was educated by a teaching union rep as to just how unfavourable their pay and t&c are.

Talk about quickly making it to the shit list of a very large growing number of people who have kids with Autism around the planet.

That seems like the kind of lady who will magically change her mind when it eventually affects her directly or end up blaming vaccines.

The system is already inequitable. To take a local authority to tribunal is expensive, not all families can raise the money needed to hire lawyers.

Limit assessments and LAs create another layer of inequality and will find themselves losing in court or bypassed by private assessments.
