Grew up with a very musical mom, every time & I do mean every time I heard her playing this song...I would see tears in her eyes.
We lost an Uncle & several family friends during Vietnam and this song use to make my grandma tear-up as well.😥
Saddest song I’ve ever heard is by the artist Dram. It’s called angry. It’s about the loss of his mom
“What do you mean I can’t see you?” 😔 When my dad passed, that song had me in a ball for two days. Hauntingly beautiful song, I’ve been wanting to hear it lately but I’m scared it’ll crumble me😭
After I would have said Song to the siren, that has already been mentioned
Hide and seek by Imogen Heap and maybe also Someone you loved by Lewis Capaldi
It's a toss up between the Cure's, Just Like Heaven (always reminds me of a dog I had who died in my arms), and Van Morrison's Madame George which makes me think of other losses. No real reason for these sad connections, it's just the nature of art.
“That shit is bananas” because it implies someone threw a perfectly good banana in the toilet which was then confused with poop until the writer of the song clarified that it was indeed bananas b-a-n-a-n-a-s.
I like bananas and hate throwing food away so the song makes me sad.
The Sundays cover featured in Buffy the Vampire Slayer during an especially tough episode and, 20+ years on from my first viewing, I still sob when I hear it. 😶
Semi charmed kinda life by 3rd eye blind. Listen to the lyrics, it’s about a junkie on the streets missing a girl that either got sober and left them or found another junkie and left them.
As you may have seen this Alan, I want you to know that seeing you play that song on your Chicago concert stop with Godspeed changed my life, and I have considered dearly creating a cover but I'm not sure I would do the sheer power of your words enough justice 💕
Hurt by Johnny Cash if you're going for sad vibes. If you want a song with lyrics that'll make you tear up, ballad of Curtis Loew will do the trick, or 'you never know' by immortal technique.
I had a record when I was little, I would listen to it alone in my parents bedroom (where the record player was) it was a country song with a little boy asking “Grandpa will there be baseball in heaven?” I cannot find this song, but I used to sit and cry
I love this song but oddly don't think it's sad. To me its about the acceptance of grief, and that it's a temporary part of life. The end suggests after grief will come anger and retribution.
‘The Final Countdown’ For context it was when my, younger than me, sister was fed into the furnace after Cancer took her. Then there was Pat, whose heart gave out. He went to “Three wheels on my wagon” that was the tune he always played at the end of the night at the Hellfire club Oxford St W1
I answered on the other site, but I have so many😂😂
Brand New - limousine
Brand New - the boy who blocked his own shot
Death Cab-I will follow you in the dark
Modest mouse - 3rd planet
Dashboard Confessional - the brilliant dance
Sorry, Sad music sure makes me happy😅 I could go on and on.
my grandfather passed last year and was a big Fleetwood Mac fan, and i listened to Landslide a lot when i was caring for him in his final days. hearing Stevie Nicks dedicate it to Christine McVie at a concert in July was so emotional
Put me down for “Strange Fruit” Billie Holiday “And the band played waltzing Matilda” Eric Bogle and last but not least, have a listen to “How to make gravy” by Paul Kelly - It’s Christmas, he’s in jail thinking about home 😢
I dunno if I'd put them down as the *saddest* but a few that elicit a strong emotion response from me, personally, are Bright Eyes "Landlocked Blues" and Townes Van Zandt's "Tecumseh Valley".
