handiest encapsulation happens in episode one. hes talking about going to the science museum and skyler is like but are you gonna paint the nursery? and you're initially like oh he cant do anything for himself : ( and then shes like "im happy to do it its just you said i shouldnt be on ladders"
and then later we see her painting the nursery herself anyways. The put-upon patriarch routine wouldnt need to exist if he didn't insist on making his own life harder!!!
