I have a girl that had bladder surgery at 10 months! Stress induced by roofers being here for 5 weeks. What really worked to get rid of the grit she was still producing was a product from New Zealand. Hippohealth is the co. It is their product for cat urinary tract. Prices are NZD so look high.

BTW She is now 7yo and we had no issues after 6 months on the above product. That was after special diet and some other stuff I got from the vet. Still had grit. Noticed a difference within 3 days on Hippo Health.
She is paraplegic and I express her I have 3x daily eyes on. Noticeable difference!

She hates adult fosters but she takes every single baby under her wing like it’s her own, she is just so sweet and gentle. None of our other adult cats care for kittens at all and tolerate them at best. She is just really special.

I'm glad her surgery went well. There are things you can do to lower her PH, making her urine inhospitable to stones. I'm sure your vet has discussed these methods with you.

Increasing hydration is also huge! Hydracare (Purina) has been proven to lower USG, increasing hydration on cellular level.

We have made these changes but the remaining stone is likely a calcium oxalate stone instead of a struvite, and it’s just not going anywhere without surgical assistance after 5 months of dietary and medical changes. But hopefully the changes we have made will prevent future stones!

I was also thinking that it is difficult to find food that is low in minerals. If push comes to shove, you could always meet with a dietitian.

It’s also important to say that Wasabi’s surgery doesn’t hinge on the success of the GFM, she’ll get it either way & is already scheduled. So don’t feel guilty if you can’t assist, she’ll absolutely get the care she needs! It’s just a chunk of $ at a tough time, so if people want to help, it’s here.

Best to Wasabi with her surgery. It's great to have a cat that loves kittens, especially with rescue kittens. Vets have a lot of overhead as small businesses, and I'm impressed yours donated. Gracious. Small donation on behalf of my cats.

To be fair, our rescue spends a small fortune there and always pays our bills at the time of our appointments. I told them please not to take money out of their angel fund if a pet parent that really needed it could use it instead, but they were insistent 😭 We are so lucky to have our vet practice!

She’s battled chronic FLUTD/idiopathic cystitis for over 2 years. Originally, she never had any crystals, just inflammation, and she was doing great with daily Prozac. When she had a symptom flare up in September that wouldn’t resolve with Onsior, we found she was full of stones now ;-;. 1/2

2/2 All the stones but one dissolved after a switch to St/Ox prescription food, but the one remaining has now grown larger instead of smaller (making us think it’s an oxalate stone and not a simple struvite like the others that dissolved).
