It really sucks that all of these people got to buy cheap real estate in one of the best cities on earth and have stopped the people who actually like cities from moving there
I love cities, and especially love how easy it is to be car free in San Francisco, I would honestly move up there in a heartbeat! But I need to first plan it out, because it’ll be expensive $$$. Also The whole point of a city is for a place where crowds, mass transit, diversity, and traffic exist!
A popular but unofficial early morning Lake Michigan swim in Chicago had problems with traffic jams from all the people that were trying to drive to it. It was eventually disbanded for different reasons but people got frustrated they couldn’t park so easily anymore.
The urban house (standard in Toronto) is this too:
I want to feel like I’m in virgin nature when I look out to the garden, but when I step outside my house, I want to be surrounded by amenities reflective of dense urbanism.
Worst actor in the collective action problem, is the goal.
