A Poem
The Kickback
The KGB made us a promise:
They’d bury us under ourselves.
And one thing we can say about them
They took time to make good on their word.
They started by making a bargain.
The devil was given his due.
LaPierre and his cronies got richer,
And the NRA just grew and grew 1/16

Was to hand over five million souls
Whose minds would become like a garden
In which viral fascism would start to grow.
They targeted email addresses
And mailing addresses to boot
Of those who had already siloed themselves:
Paranoiacs who hoarded their guns.
2/16
And rhetoric meant to inflame
The fears that their guns would be pulled from their hands
Leaving them all alone with their shame.
The emails looked very official
They shouted italicized words
The dangers of mass vaccinations
(that had ended the polio curse). 3
A risk that if left would destroy
The base of their feeling of safety
The guns that they worshipped as gods.
The name of the imminent danger
The name of the ones to abhor
The name of the enemy faction
Was ”the liberals” outside their doors.
4/16
To recognize threats to their minds
Were like lambs in a chute to the slaughter
Circling in as a malignant core
Like parents who give little babies
Handy silicone nipples to suck
They gave them a channel on TV
With a cute little fox for mascot. 5/16
They certainly have mastered their art.
They found a ripe pear for the plucking
A man bankrupt in soul and in heart.
They offered him “VIP Treatment”
An “expenses-all-paid” trip to try
The lifestyle of real oligarchy
That they promised to bring to his life.

The girls who create kompromat
And Trump must have been quite surprised when he found there were no lines they wouldn’t o’erstep.
