So 5e leaves a tonne of the rules and interpretations up to the DM at the cost of having a very barebones rulebook for DMs to go off of. The idea of "rulings not rules" is not necessarily a bad thing but the way its been done leaves a lot to be desired. Some DMs can handle it. Some don't like it.
Oh makes sense to me lol had a whole thing last week where I climbed a building and jumped off in the same movement and the 5e falling rules happened, I was like so I fall slower than I climb? Uhhhh overruled continue your turn. Lol
