Teachers have no say in school policy or curriculum. They are overworked and trying their best. They come to work even though there’s a real possibility they could die there. You’re right that we are failing. But it’s not the teachers who are at fault.

Thank you Tracy. I was a teacher for 12 years; 2 in New York City and 10 in Nevada. In my experience, I found a culture of management through bullying from the administration and a lot of gossip and bickering among staff. Sadly, the primary focus of benefit is for the adults, not the children.

Teachers are going to school smiling, reassuring children and keeping things normal. It’s not easy but it’s important.
