I'm conflicted on this one. I really felt hopeful about her in the short amount of time she had to campaign. However, I'm wondering if we need to shake this completely up.
About 70% of all Americans want a "Medicare for all" option. About 2/3 of all want to increase minimum wage. 3/4 want to reinstate Glass-Steagal. 60% favor higher taxes on ultra wealthy. 84% of the public approve of a federal requirement that employers provide paid maternity leave.
We can see the evidence in swing states where progressive (left) policy won big: minimum wage increase, abortion rights protected, expanded sick leave, rejecting of school vouchers, strengthening of union protections.
Running as 2000era bush republicans cost Dems the election this year
It’s not one thing that’s cost DEMS the election. You’re leaving out : the non-stop right wing/Russian disinformation campaign, the pro-Palestine movement, POTUS running for a 2nd term ( and public thrashing by own party), DNC not investing in grassroots organizing in key populations, etc.
If Dems had run on a national minimum wage increase to $15, and ideally increases to inflation, we'd be inaugurating the nation's first female president. That policy alone is heavily supported across the political spectrum
Not to mention people from 2020 just not showing up when the basic choice was binary.... fascism or Constitutional Democracy. I am more surprised that the pro-Roe voters did not turn out with more strength as they had in Kansas.
Unfortunately, that's true. But I don't think those exceptions disprove my point. That's a county, whereas the policies I mentioned passed in several swing states
Populist messaging is what is needed. Name a candidate who has had as much grass roots support on the left as Bernie did. We need to move the party left. Go look at every European country— they have socialist wings of the party for Christ sake. We have no actual leftists— it’s all centrists
I’m not opposed to Bernie, but he was labeled “socialist” by the right. Many won’t vote for him/someone like him because they don’t understand what socialism is, & how millions at any given time, are benefiting from socialist programs. Biggest concern with such a candidate= the Electoral College.
That needed to be asked. Harris was fantastic. She had essentially no time to get going and her team pulled things together remarkably. Still wondering where all the missing votes went.
Ask for a damn forensic accounting. This WAS a stolen election. Between Musk and De Joy and other oligarchs there was something hinky going on. Why hasn't anyone asked for a
RECOUNT!
I hate that guy please don’t make me vote for him. Ughh. But that’s actually the difference between what happened this election & what I’ll have to do in 2028. I hate Newsom, but I understand if we want the American experiment to continue, assuming we aren’t doomed now, that’s what I’ll have to do.
As long as Democrats have a real primary it won't matter. She won't make it out of a primary. Problem is Democrats have a dumb habbit of forcing unpopular candidates onto the ticket.
Harris is still a poor choice. The one and only thing she had going for her is that she was not Trump. People do not like her, people do not want her as president. Voters have made that clear in primaries and presidential elections. Stop running unpopular candidates.
That's misogyny. She has experience in all 3 branches of government. She prosecuted cartels, won billions for ripped off homeowners, helped pass the infrastructure act, amount other things. She garnered a ton of enthusiasm for 100 days.
No. By dumping tons of money into the process, drowning out the voice of popular candidates, playing identity politics to divide the voters base, canceling debates when a candidate is starting to get popular, and pooling together to all trash any candidate who actually is able to connect with wokers
she ran a good campaign for the short time span she had to run it but it felt as though both Joe and her had the rugs pulled up from underneath them on Nov 5th
I’ve never seen a more capable candidate and a more flawless campaign.
But as this country is more racist, misogynistic, and even stupider than I imagined, & since half believe a fascist, insurrectionist, rapist, criminal, sundowning, narcissist is preferable…I’m not sure where we even go from here
That's the thing. The fact that someone so compromised won with the conservatives (family values) over Kamala is mind numbing. I'm just not sure this country can get it's head out of its own ass.
It's cute that she thinks there'll be an election in 2028. He outright lied about Project2025 on the campaign trail, and now he's gleefully putting the people in place to implement it...but we're supposed to believe he was only joking about this being the LAST election for America?
I’m not seeing how she’s responsible. She was a Hail Mary candidate who ran a 107 day campaign which was nearly flawless. We had an uneducated electorate + massive disinformation campaigns. Everyone had side issues & personal grievances & no one prioritized the one thing they should have.
She needs 2 start laying the ground 4 a new style of campaigning. Raise funds, build a ground game 2 register LOTS of folks to vote, speak abt women reproductive rights in terms of economic growth & opportunity. Be open 2 speak authentically to all media (left, right, middle). Discuss border security
Love Kamala. I want somebody that's going to kick ass and take names. I want Bernies fire, AOC's spunk, Katie Porters tenacity. I want somebody to stand up and we're all being ripped off and scammed so that billionaires can steal more from us. You know, like what Teddy and Franklin Roosevelt did.
I will NEVER vote for her again. I never liked Kamala. She was a terrible candidate with no message. No vision. She left our party in ruins with $20 million in debt. I wouldn’t give her a vote for dog catcher. What we need is a new candidate with genuine ideas and plans to help the people.
No, we can’t focus on the presidential race in 2028 until we gain a full understanding of where our country will be at that time. Will there even be an election in 2028? The focus should be on damage control and focusing on 2026. If we make progress in 2026 we can look to the future. 🙏

We have a few examples now of presidents who lost reelection but came back years later, but I'm not sure about losing candidates coming back.

Perhaps she can pick John Kerry as her running mate to build on his successes and appeal to young voters and minorities.

Nearly every candidate rallied against Bernie in 2020, because they are all establishment shills.
In 2016 the DNC acted like Clinton was heir to the throne
