I know a lot of people are questioning the number, but the fact that it’s so low makes me think it’s legit. And all 20K are going to get screwed by Elon on the payout.
“Over the past five fiscal years, attrition peaked in fiscal 2022 at 7.6%. That year, nearly 150,000 federal employees left the government, with 70,000 departing due to retirement and 77,000 quitting their position. Sep 4, 2024”
Its all lies. Per USCode §6329a - max of 10 admin days per calendar year. Off more than 10 days? Regular leave is charged. Not enough leave to cover thru 9/30? Terminated! Plus, if you accept another full time job, govt pay stops. Laws are not changed via memo & wishful thinking.
Y’all are about to have even more trouble getting jobs depending on how many (non-retirement) employees are leaving, the private sector will hire these people who are far more developed and experienced than you
Being as the number of federal employees is 2.4 million excluding military, that is a reduction of 0.83%, and probably all people retiring anyway. I’m not impressed!
Per terms publicly posted on the interwebs, they could sign up for the “through September” plan and still get paid…and work a private sector job at the same time.
So IF those terms are abided, and IF they lined up another job, they could double dip for 8 months.
2.25 million fed employees. About 2% retire each year. Over the past five fiscal years, attrition peaked in fiscal 2022 at 7.6%. That year, nearly 150,000 federal employees left the government, with 70,000 departing due to retirement and 77,000 quitting their position.Sep 4, 2024
lol they were probably people close to retirement. Also, I don’t believe any numbers coming out of this admin. They would lie about it just to claim “victory”
But yeah anyone that took it was dumb. There is no legal contract in place, they aren’t getting paid. Idk how one could argue it’s good governance to have people stop working but still pay them lol that’s why I don’t believe it happened. Made up numbers
Feds retire at 55 I think. A lot of people work past that now so there is probably a solid chance a lot of them were that age. I bet it’s really old and really young.
It’s barely 1% of the civil employee total. None of those people will actually be paid through to September.
Most of those people seem likely to be those in probationary periods, already pass retirement but hadn’t made the move yet or those who were already wanting to leave.
Definitely scary but thankfully from the different groups I’m in and what friends have been saying, most people are in for the fight. They’re not backing down.
