The government is not a business and should not be run like one. Imagine if we expected a profit from 911 services? Now extrapolate that across all government services, because that's how we should think
The Conservative party in the UK sold off the Royal Mail in 2013, and it just resulted in increasing prices and dramatically reduced quality of service.
They also deliberately undervalued it during the sale so their mates could make a fortune by immediately reselling at its actual value.
It made a profit until Republicans forced them to spend enormous amounts of money, and prohibited them from earning money, so they could justify gutting it. They literally broke something that worked so they could complain about it not working.
Remember the stories during Trump's first "term" about service being throttled in blue states? Making it harder for people to mail-in vote Democrat? I do.
That's the strategy. They've been at it with public education for decades. That's the big prize, because not only does it give them the profit engine, it helps them dumb down the proles.
And from this point onwards, every single piece of 'secure' mail is best assumed compromised. For-profit companies like this don't care if they hire people that understand mail sanctity, they just care if they can do the job 'good enough' for the least possible wages.
This is what happens when corpos run a country. They think every aspect of the government needs to be a for-profit business venture, instead of services necessary to keep its citizens happy, healthy, and safe.
They'll say it's losing money to support reforms. Then service will stops to some areas and they'll point to it and say "see, the post office cant even do mail." Then they will buy it out and now you have to pay a $500 yearly subscription for 4-6 week mail delivery.
My taxes go to support the postal service. And.. good? I want it to? What is wrong with people that they want to dismantle everything so only people with significant income can thrive?
The post office is self funded, it stopped getting tax money in the 70's, also to clarify those 10,000 jobs are people who were offered early outs for retirement
But the law was changed in 2006 to make impossible for the Post Office to self-fund reliably... for the purpose of eventually forcing it into private hands. That's where we are now.
This is the entire point. Everyone with that much money got there through theft and fraud and want to legalize it so they can commit more theft and fraud.
To support this they've crafted an ideology to sell to the masses that paints wealth as self-justifying. its holders superior, deserving.
It's kind of funny when you think about it, because they don't say the military "loses money", yet they dump a lot of money into that, every single year.... But no, of course the postal service is what's "losing money".😑
A postal employee happened to mention that while in charge, DeJoy gave them memos saying they don't have to think so much about courtesy anymore.
Because he wants to make sure as few miss it as possible, I guess. I didn't experience rude postal employees before his regime. Now I do all the time.

The Post Office is an essential service! Not a business! That's why tampering with the mail is a federal crime!
Privatizing the Post Office will impact millions, and hurt thousands of businesses.
It's pretty much the cheapest way to ship thing for a reason.
Can use your drawing as an inspiration to do some of these for Brazil as well ? Our mailing service is ALSO being targeted.
Feel free to steal/modify this one if it's useful!
(and please call me Jay)
Brazil's mailing service is called "Correios" (literally "Mails"), or tenderly nicknamed "Canaries", because the uniform is yellow.
I'll "borrow" your design to make some art. Canaries is super important and they want to privatize it. It's absurd.

Fine... that'll make it easier to federalize Amazon when this is all over.🤨
