this style of Ui would always have little animations and sounds when you hovered over stuff, too...it was so Tactile in a way that made it a joy just to use.
Oh I LOVED these! I had several. Calling it an "Encyclopedia" was a bit too much, it was like an educational CD ROM. I loved to see the little videos, watched the first minute of Martin Luther King Jr speech over and over, not like I understood much at the time, he just looked charming.
